Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 42 minutes into the game, Silveirania's Vânderson Santana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The audience was convinced that Vânderson Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gugu Tavares was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. After the first half Silveirania were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anselmo Zonta to make the kick off. The supporters of Bambura EC booed when Silveirania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Anselmo Zonta came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Bambura EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anselmo Zonta couldn't finish the play. In the 60th minute, Vitório Amorim fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bambura EC's goalkeeper Gugu Tavares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Silveirania's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vânderson Santana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Renato Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Silveirania eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
