Dito Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adhemar Botelho having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiago Branco in the 8th minute of play forced cruzeiro esporte clube's goalkeeper Ronaldão Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Abelardo Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Abelardo Pontess short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Adhemar Botelho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. cruzeiro esporte clube's Ronaldão Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Branco in the 19th minute of play. Abelardo Pontes might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adhemar Botelho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abelardo Pontes ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Moriru's zone, Dito Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adhemar Botelho came out of the goal and Dito Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adhemar Botelho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abelardo Pontes in the 25th minute. When Luiz Munhoz fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored cruzeiro esporte clube's protests and gave Luiz Munhoz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Luiz Munhoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th minute Marcos Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldão Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adhemar Botelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo Pontes in the 35th minute of play. If Duarte Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Abelardo Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. cruzeiro esporte clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Abelardo Pontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adhemar Botelho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dito Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Adhemar Botelho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for cruzeiro esporte clube. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Abelardo Pontes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Wilian Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Adhemar Botelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dito Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adhemar Botelho having to interfere. In the 61st match minute, Moriru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raimundo Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. When Abelardo Pontes came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the cruzeiro esporte clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abelardo Pontes couldn't finish the play. 68 minutes into the match, cruzeiro esporte clube's goal looked a bit too open when Tarcisio Arantes came free, but Ronaldão Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adhemar Botelho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abelardo Pontes's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. After having played for 72 minutes, Dito Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. cruzeiro esporte clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dito Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abelardo Pontes in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adhemar Botelho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tiago Branco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 86th minute, Dito Nogueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute of the match Luiz Munhoz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adhemar Botelho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Abelardo Pontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Adhemar Botelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92ndth minute of the game Abelardo Pontes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Moriru's Adhemar Botelho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Luiz Munhoz was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 96 minutes had been played. The supporters of Moriru booed when cruzeiro esporte clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the cruzeiro esporte clube players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
