Victor Paraibano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Genílson Montenegro. Castilho's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tony Carneiro in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Genílson Montenegro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benedito Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Matheus Rossi's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. 11 minutes into the game, Betinho Negri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quexados's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castilho the free kick. The supporters of Castilho booed when Quexados was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Matheus Rossi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benedito Azevedo. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. In the 15th minute, Betinho Negri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matheus Rossi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jorge Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Quexados's Tony Carneiro got a free kick in the 21st minute. If Jorge Mendonça had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Matheus Rossi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matheus Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Benedito Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quexados's Doriva Cardoso got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Genílson Montenegro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Carneiro in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Castilho's Matheus Rossi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benedito Azevedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Genílson Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Castilho's Jorge Mendonça sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benedito Azevedo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The wind increased when Doriva Cardoso made the kick off in the second half. The nice shot from Tony Carneiro in the 51stth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Genílson Montenegro had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Tony Carneiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Genílson Montenegro made a huge save. With a little luck, Castilho's Genílson Montenegro got control of the ball when Tony Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Tony Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Castilho's Genílson Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doriva Cardoso in the 66th minute of play. Genílson Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tony Carneiro in the 78th minute. Castilho's Matheus Rossi got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tony Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Quexados players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Castilho.
