After 17 minutes of play, Caiabu's Raimundo Vander made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudinho Pinho was left in no man's land by his defense there! Claudinho Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Mello, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Caiabu's goalkeeper Aílton Neves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Hoffmann. In the 23rd minute, Paulo Renato Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute of the match Dalmo Porto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudinho Pinho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 40 minutes, Raimundo Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caiabu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raimundo Vander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alexandre Secco lost his temper 43 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card.

Claudinho Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Falcão do Nascimento in the 54th minute. When Raimundo Vander fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caiabu's protests and gave Raimundo Vander a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Caiabu getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Raimundo Vander hit a great ball. The supporters of Caiabu booed when Campo Da Paz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Campo Da Paz's Claudinho Pinho got control of the ball when Falcão do Nascimento tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raimundo Vander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
