The referee ignored Itapare's protests and gave Washington Valle a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Itapare getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Washington Valle hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Itapare's Benjamin Baiano threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tiaguinho Severo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 20 minutes into the match, Phoenix Imirim's goal looked a bit too open when Tiaguinho Severo came free, but Benjamin Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rogério Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute Tiaguinho Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute of the match Gerson Perez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tony da Costa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 35thth minute of the game Rogério Nunes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itapare's Tony da Costa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 42nd minute, Rogério Nunes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phoenix Imirim fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.

Phoenix Imirim's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
