Nelsinho Penha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tapuias's Chicão Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cruz in the 21st minute of play. Nelsinho Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filipe Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The audience was convinced that Filipe Alagoano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelsinho Penha was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romário do Valle during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 42 played minutes Tapuias got a freekick which was hit by Romário do Valle. Thanks to some nice moves Régis Aguiar could shoot a difficult shot in the 45th minute, which Chicão Pena however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Tapuias's Romário do Valle got a free kick in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Barbosa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Pedro Barbosa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Chicão Pena was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Edinho Maranhense was extremely unlucky when he, in the 59th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 63 minutes, Natã Baptista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pirainha and the Tapuias players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Pirainha booed when Tapuias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elivélton Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute, Perivaldo Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Natã Baptista took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Chicão Pena. Tapuias's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a little luck, Pirainha's Nelsinho Penha got control of the ball when Filipe Alagoano tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Filipe Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Pirainha had played much better football throughout.
