The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Buique EC's goalkeeper Armindo da Mata, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 5 minutes had been played when some careless play by Buique EC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pedro Paulo Goiano was slow to take the kick. During this time Oneide SC's players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Betinho Bueno in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Armindo da Mata saved Buique EC from getting behind. Diamantino Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armindo da Mata having to interfere. João Carlos Alagoano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Armindo da Mata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute Diamantino Xavier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Buique EC's goal looked a bit too open when João Carlos Alagoano came free, but Armindo da Mata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21stth minute of the game João Carlos Alagoano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Buique EC's Armindo da Mata was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gilberto Machado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fellipe Veloso in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute Diamantino Xavier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Augusto Cearense in the 27th minute of play forced Buique EC's goalkeeper Armindo da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Carlos Alagoano made a kick off. Oneide SC's Betinho Bueno got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, Oneide SC's Diamantino Xavier sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armindo da Mata narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Diamantino Xavier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Buique EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adalberto Cordeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 88 minutes, Diamantino Xavier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When the final whistle sounded Oneide SC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Buique EC.
