The supporters of Abapa SS booed when Ijui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17thth minute of the game Gonçalo Coelho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Abapa SS's Luisão Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Carlos Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonsinho Mineiro in the 19th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ijui's José Maria Prata got a free kick in the 21st minute. Edgard Simão succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to get real power on a long shot . Ijui's João Carlos Batista hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-1! João Carlos Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonsinho Mineiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rômulo Velasco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Coelho in the 31st minute of play forced Abapa SS's goalkeeper Luisão Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Rômulo Velasco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luisão Figueiredo was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. After 35 minutes, Caetano Quirino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Abapa SS and the Ijui players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Ijui's zone, Tadeu de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Carlos Batista came out of the goal and Tadeu de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gonçalo Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Caetano Quirino hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tadeu de Queiroz was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Tadeu de Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Carlos Batista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rômulo Velasco struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Luisão Figueiredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ijui. In the 62nd match minute, Abapa SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. Rômulo Velasco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisão Figueiredo having to interfere. Gonçalo Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Abapa SS's Luisão Figueiredo got control of the ball when Rômulo Velasco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Abapa SS defense, Rômulo Velasco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luisão Figueiredo. The Abapa SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luisão Figueiredo should have stopped the shot. Christiano Dracena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th minute of the game, Christiano Dracena landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Amílton Favoretto fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abapa SS's protests and gave Amílton Favoretto a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes Abapa SS got a freekick which was hit by Amílton Favoretto. A collision led to Ijui getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Perivaldo Lucas hit a great ball. Rômulo Velasco's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Luisão Figueiredo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Rômulo Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Abapa SS getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Dionísio Abreu hit a great ball. After having played for 93 minutes, Rômulo Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ijui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rômulo Velasco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gonçalo Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisão Figueiredo having to interfere. When the match was over Ijui could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Abapa SS throughout the match.
