Dionísio Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafa Teixeira in the 18th minute of play forced CURUÇA F.C.'s goalkeeper Hortêncio Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. CURUÇA F.C.'s Hortêncio Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafa Teixeira in the 20th minute of play. Carlos Alberto Brasil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Souto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Rafa Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibiracu's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafa Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hortêncio Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd match minute, Ibiracu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisinho Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Alberto Brasil didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 40th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. Natã Pereira charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rafa Teixeira to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beto Schmidt couldn't finish the play. The referee ignored Ibiracu's protests and gave Luís Fabiano Rossi a yellow card for diving instead. Luís Fabiano Rossi kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Carlos Alberto Brasil showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narciso Souto in the 80th minute of the match. 84 minutes into the game, one of Ibiracu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
