Edmílson Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Arengas FC's Matías Paraíba got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 9 minutes into the game, Ramón Ramos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arengas FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itabaiana AD the free kick. In the 9th match minute, Arengas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramón Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Edmílson Messias was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 10th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Itabaiana AD's Diego Queiroz got a free kick in the 12th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Itabaiana AD's goalkeeper Enrique Mazza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adelino Eger. When Ramón Ramos was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 17 minutes had been played. The supporters of Itabaiana AD booed when Arengas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramón Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leonel Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Nunes in the 19th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Matías Paraíba was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ronaldão Dantas's late challenge caught a Itabaiana AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldão Dantas helped the player get up and apologised. Enrique Mazza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raimundo Rocha in the 43rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Adelino Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arengas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Adelino Eger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enrique Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eduardo Nunes to strike the kick off in the second half. Adelino Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wanderson Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Leonel Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Dadá Severo could shoot a difficult shot in the 73rd minute, which Leonel Fonseca however easily saved by the left post. Eduardo Nunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonel Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Adelino Eger struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Enrique Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arengas FC. Matías Paraíba was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Arengas FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! Leonel Fonseca had in the 87thth minute some difficulties stopping Edmílson Messias's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 87th minute, Edmílson Messias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itabaiana AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ronaldão Dantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Arengas FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Itabaiana AD to win.
