The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dito Proença in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Eduardo Leite prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luís Eduardo Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Quintal, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Arnaldo Paraíba took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Walmir Paiva to make any attempt to save it. Luís Eduardo Leite came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Suez's Dagoberto Quintal. But to his dismay, Dagoberto Quintal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 30th minute Sebastião da Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Eduardo Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilson Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Walmir Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dito Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Luís Eduardo Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Dagoberto Quintal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Eduardo Leite. Balsa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dagoberto Quintal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arnaldo Paraíba to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Dagoberto Quintal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Suez's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balsa the free kick. A collision led to Suez getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Dagoberto Quintal hit a great ball. After having played for 54 minutes, Dagoberto Quintal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Suez's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dagoberto Quintal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Walmir Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belmiro Passos in the 59th minute of play. The Suez fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Suez's Dagoberto Quintal looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Dagoberto Quintal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Luís Eduardo Leite made a huge save. Arnaldo Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Walmir Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diogo Baptista in the 82nd minute of play. Walmir Paiva didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arnaldo Paraíba went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. In the 87th match minute, Balsa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belmiro Passos to maneuver through the defense. Célio Goiano was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 88th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Arnaldo Paraíba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Walmir Paiva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. A collision led to Balsa getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Belmiro Passos hit a great ball. The Balsa supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Suez's performance. The match ended with a win for Suez.
