Gilvan de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Miranda in the 5th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Ibirucucu:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tiaraju EC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 12 minutes, Tiaraju EC's Belmiro Ferreira got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gilvan de Lima. José Maria Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcinho Tepedino having to interfere. Marcinho Tepedino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jarbas Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 43 minutes into the match, Tiaraju EC's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Nunes came free, but Marcinho Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Maria Dias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Marcinho Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Isaltino Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jarbas Torres to make the kick off. Marcinho Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarbas Torres in the 52nd minute of play. After having played for 54 minutes, José Maria Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ibirucucu's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Maria Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Tiaraju EC's goalkeeper Marcinho Tepedino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Maria Dias. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isaltino Almeida in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan de Lima prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 70 played minutes Tiaraju EC got a freekick which was hit by Geovani Salgado. In the 71st minute of the match Anselmo Bastos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcinho Tepedino skillfully saved the ball. Jarbas Torres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcinho Tepedino having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Dias in the 82nd minute of play forced Tiaraju EC's goalkeeper Marcinho Tepedino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Jarbas Torres's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcinho Tepedino was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. If José Maria Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute Jarbas Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcinho Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, Tiaraju EC's goal looked a bit too open when Jarbas Torres came free, but Marcinho Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Many of Ibirucucu's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ibirucucu may have spent more time on the ball, but Tiaraju EC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
