Mathias Carneiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frédson Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 25th match minute, Malhador EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Augusto Mota to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Guerra in the 28th minute of play forced Malhador EC's goalkeeper Mathias Carneiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reduto's Norberto Arce proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Reduto from getting a goal against them. Mathias Carneiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Arósio in the 32nd minute of play. Ivo Arósio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mathias Carneiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After 46 played minutes Malhador EC got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Augusto Mota. 47 minutes into the match, Malhador EC's goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Arósio came free, but Mathias Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Claudinho Vale made the kick off in the second half. Ivo Arósio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Mathias Carneiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Malhador EC booed when Reduto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luís Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Arósio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Mathias Carneiro made a huge save. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Malhador EC's goalkeeper Mathias Carneiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Romário Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Malhador EC's protests and gave Romário Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th minute, Romário Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivo Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Malhador EC's zone, Frédson Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mathias Carneiro came out of the goal and Frédson Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivo Arósio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedro Augusto Mota kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. If Frédson Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Reduto failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
