Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Mateus de Toledo's late challenge caught a Jacuhy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juninho Lima in the 18th minute of play forced Jacuhy's goalkeeper José Vítor Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laércio Pitta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacuhy's José Vítor Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredão Melo in the 93rd minute of play. With an all-out effort, Jacuhy's Manuel Medeiros threw himself towards the right post 96 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Laércio Pitta, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The Sape supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Jacuhy's performance. The match ended with a win for Jacuhy.
