In the 5th minute, Mauro Varela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 8th minute, Luiz Fabiano Berger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luiz Fabiano Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Furlan having to interfere. José Furlan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Aroeiras EC booed when Paru EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Paru EC's Manuel da Rocha got a free kick in the 25th minute. Luiz Fabiano Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd match minute, Paru EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel da Rocha to maneuver through the defense. Anselmo Abreu, 34 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 37 minutes into the game, Clóvis da Cunha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paru EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aroeiras EC the free kick. Clóvis da Cunha hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. José Furlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Varela in the 39th minute of the match. Luiz Fabiano Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Furlan having to interfere. José Furlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro Varela in the 44th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Aroeiras EC's zone, Clóvis da Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Eduardo Gaspar came out of the goal and Clóvis da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bruninho dos Santos made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Mauro Varela made a precise shot to the right of José Furlan. Paru EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 56th minute, Reginaldo Abreu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58th match minute, Aroeiras EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílton Paranaense to maneuver through the defense. Diguinho de Carvalho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 60thth minute, Luís Eduardo Gaspar skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 60 played minutes Aroeiras EC got a freekick which was hit by Dionísio Vergílio. After 62 minutes, Diguinho de Carvalho made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Aroeiras EC's Luís Eduardo Gaspar tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 70th minute Paru EC were awarded a corner. Daniel Favoretto went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Paru EC's Diogo Neves getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Luiz Fabiano Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. José Furlan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diguinho de Carvalho might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Eduardo Gaspar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diguinho de Carvalho ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bruninho dos Santos in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Eduardo Gaspar saved Aroeiras EC from getting behind. After taking down the ball on Paru EC's corner Daniel Favoretto fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luís Eduardo Gaspar quite easily take care of the ball. If Luiz Fabiano Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 91 minutes into the match, Aroeiras EC's Mauro Varela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Furlan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Mauro Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
