In the 5th minute Geovanni Urbano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Cardoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ferroviária's Severino do Vale slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Christiano de Medeiros. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. Jardel de Brito came free with the goalkeeper in the 14th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Christiano de Medeiros could save by the left post. Christiano de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino do Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Christiano de Medeiros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jardel de Brito in the 23rd minute. The supporters of Ferroviária booed when Evaristo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Braga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jardel de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Christiano de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Ferroviária's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Bastos came free, but Alan Cardoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jardel de Brito got free with Christiano de Medeiros in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Severino do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Severino do Vale blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Christiano de Medeiros having to make a save. Jardel de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Christiano de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

In the 53rd minute, Severino do Vale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Christiano de Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino do Vale in the 56th minute of the match. When Jardel de Brito came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Ferroviária fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jardel de Brito couldn't finish the play. When Zé Paulo Braga fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Evaristo's protests and gave Zé Paulo Braga a yellow card for diving instead. Zé Paulo Braga hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Jardel de Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christiano de Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severino do Vale's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. After 77 minutes of play, Ferroviária's Jardel de Brito made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christiano de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Christiano de Medeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jardel de Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Augusto Medeiros during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alan Cardoso went to the wrong direction when Hílton Arantes was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Evaristo's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Oliveira came free, but Christiano de Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jardel de Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
