In the 3rd minute, Jeremias Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A long shot from Donato Silva in the 4th minute of play was well struck, but João Pedro Marinho made a really good save at the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Miguel Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catirina's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Sanches was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Pedro Marinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dedé de Senna in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Pedro Marinho saved Coutinho SC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Coutinho SC's Gilberto Romero got a free kick in the 11th minute. Mazinho Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celso Paiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Flávio Valadares kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dedé de Senna in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Pedro Marinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Coutinho SC's Flávio Valadares got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Enio Meira hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Donato Silva struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. João Pedro Marinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catirina. In the 28th minute, Ricardinho Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celso Paiva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mazinho Maranhense having to make a save. 34 minutes into the match, Coutinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Sanches came free, but João Pedro Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 35 minutes into the game, Catirina's Júlio Figueiredo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilberto Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mazinho Maranhense having to interfere. Mazinho Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Saldanha in the 40th minute of play. 45 minutes in the game Erik Antunes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Flávio Valadares. Catirina's Mazinho Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flávio Valadares in the 46th minute of play. After 47 played minutes Catirina got a freekick which was hit by Ricardinho Lopes. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dedé de Senna was the one to do the kick off. After 57 played minutes Catirina got a freekick which was hit by Donato Silva. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedé de Senna in the 61st minute of play forced Coutinho SC's goalkeeper João Pedro Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Paulo Rosa was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 66 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Saldanha in the 71st minute of play forced Catirina's goalkeeper Mazinho Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Coutinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé de Senna came free, but João Pedro Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Catirina's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Saldanha came free, but Mazinho Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Catirina had won after a very even match.
