Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Egídio da Costa in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enio dos Santos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Geovanni Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geovanni Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Enio dos Santos came out of the goal and Egídio da Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes into the match, Egídio da Costa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Enio dos Santos, 2-1. Doriva Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Enio dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 minutes, Eduardo Guimarães mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pipoco and the Avare players grew even worse after the yellow card. 43 minutes into the game, one of Pipoco:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.
The throw-in from Enéas Salgado in the 52nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Avare's Erasmo Soares. If Egídio da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dário de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egídio da Costa couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute of the match, Edgard Magalhães tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rômulo Dante saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rômulo Dante made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. After having played for 88 minutes, Dário de Toledo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Avare's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dário de Toledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Egídio da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avare's supporters rose to their feet, but Egídio da Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enio dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Avare fully deserved thier win.
