Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Teodoro Leão kicked off to start the match. Cesinha Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Leão in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Caraiva AD booed when Pena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Luiz Pires during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 12 minutes into the match, Caraiva AD's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Eduardo Ortiz came free, but Cesinha Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Almeida got free with Amauri Gonçalves in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Denílson Rossi struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Cesinha Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pena. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Eduardo Ortiz in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cesinha Soares saved Caraiva AD from getting behind. The referee gave Pena a penalty, 32 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Paulão Schmidt, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Caraiva AD's Cesinha Soares. 0-1. Pena's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Edinho Loureiro scored to the left of an out of position Amauri Gonçalves, making the score, 1-1. After 41 minutes of play, Caraiva AD's Augusto Almeida made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amauri Gonçalves was left in no man's land by his defense there! 46 minutes into the match, Caraiva AD's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Leão came free, but Cesinha Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Caraiva AD's zone, Carlos Eduardo Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cesinha Soares came out of the goal and Carlos Eduardo Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 51 played minutes Caraiva AD got a freekick which was hit by Edinho Loureiro. After a rather tough play, Caraiva AD's Adalberto Bastos got a free kick in the 59th minute. If Carlos Eduardo Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 62nd minute, Teodoro Leão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pena fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. When Erasmo Meirelles fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caraiva AD's protests and gave Erasmo Meirelles a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Caraiva AD getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Erasmo Meirelles hit a great ball. Carlos Eduardo Ortiz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Cesinha Soares when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 73 minutes into the match, Pena's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Loureiro came free, but Amauri Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Augusto Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Amauri Gonçalves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
