Ernesto de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Deivid Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grêmio's Alex Arruda suffered a sprained foot after 10 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Ademir Lima charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ademir Lima the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Grêmio made a substitution. Genílson Sanches replaced Alex Arruda. Ademir Lima hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hílton Pinheiro in the 17th minute of play forced Carambehy AD's goalkeeper Agnaldo Hoffmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carambehy AD's Agnaldo Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Genílson Sanches in the 19th minute of play. Agnaldo Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hílton Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agnaldo Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hílton Pinheiro in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute, Jonas Maciel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grêmio's Hílton Pinheiro got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Hílton Pinheiro made a precise shot to the right of Agnaldo Hoffmann. Carambehy AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Léo Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Agnaldo Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genílson Sanches in the 39th minute of play. If Genílson Sanches had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Carambehy AD players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Grêmio were winning 0-1.

Agnaldo Hoffmann didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Genílson Sanches went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 54 minutes into the match, Carambehy AD's goalkeeper Agnaldo Hoffmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Léo Montenegro. After having played for 63 minutes, Genílson Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genílson Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hílton Pinheiro scored 0-5 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Agnaldo Hoffmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match was over Grêmio could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Carambehy AD throughout the match.
