After having played for 3 minutes, Arí Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Longos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arí Barbosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sílvio Luís Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baltazar Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After some careless play in the Itajoby FC defense, Baltazar Peixoto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sílvio Luís Bueno. The Itajoby FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sílvio Luís Bueno should have stopped the shot. Longos's Nilmar de Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Longos from getting a goal against them. Arí Barbosa hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ciro Barbosa during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 25th minute, Ciro Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jairo da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Longos's Nilmar de Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Longos from getting a goal against them. Norberto Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 39th minute, Kléber Meira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nilmar de Amorim. The goal made the score 2-1. After 44 minutes, Ronaldão Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itajoby FC and the Longos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute of the match Arí Barbosa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sílvio Luís Bueno showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 50 minutes Itajoby FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gugu Jacinto who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Gugu Jacinto got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sílvio Luís Bueno quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Baltazar Peixoto to strike the kick off in the second half. Nilmar de Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Meira, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Baltazar Peixoto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th match minute, Itajoby FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur de Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Edgar Negri's late challenge caught a Longos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar Negri helped the player get up and apologised. Edgar Negri kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the match Gugu Jacinto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sílvio Luís Bueno skillfully saved the ball. 68 minutes into the game, Norberto Prestes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Nilmar de Amorim was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Kléber Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. With a little luck, Itajoby FC's Sílvio Luís Bueno got control of the ball when Jairo da Cunha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jairo da Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Sílvio Luís Bueno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jairo da Cunha came free with the goalkeeper in the 98th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Sílvio Luís Bueno could save by the left post. Sílvio Luís Bueno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baltazar Peixoto in the 100th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Itajoby FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Longos had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
