After a defensive mix-up in Caxambu's zone, Romário Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Carneiro came out of the goal and Romário Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 9th minute, Caxambu's Samuel Amorim ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Albertino Moura. Albertino Moura yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Daniel Mazza struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Albertino Moura didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caxambu. Geraldo França charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geraldo França the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Campanha SC's Geraldo França got a free kick in the 17th minute. Campanha SC's Albertino Moura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doni Mazza in the 23rd minute of play. Albertino Moura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doni Mazza in the 29th minute of play. Albertino Moura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doni Mazza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 33 in the game by Samuel Amorim from a close distance when the talented Albertino Moura managed to make a qualified save. Campanha SC's players were relieved. Fiori Sena scored 2-1 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Charles Carneiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Caxambu's Doni Mazza got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Fiori Sena made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the game, Daniel Mazza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caxambu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Campanha SC the free kick. In the 57th minute, Daniel Mazza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Romário Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 67 played minutes Campanha SC got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Quaresma. Albertino Moura didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Samuel Amorim went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. In the 72nd minute, Daniel Mazza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 73 played minutes Caxambu got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Mazza. If Doni Mazza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Doni Mazza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caxambu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Fiori Sena's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Charles Carneiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. If Samuel Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 97th minute, Doni Mazza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caxambu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. Campanha SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
