The Aparaju fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Adelino Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doni Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The supporters of Aparaju booed when Liverpool EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgílio Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Liverpool EC's goalkeeper Adelino Nascimento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reinaldo Alagoano to make the kick off. Anselmo Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Alagoano in the 53rd minute of play. Doni Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adelino Nascimento having to interfere. After 76 minutes, Anísio Soares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aparaju and the Liverpool EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 76 played minutes Aparaju got a freekick which was hit by Anísio Soares. 78 minutes into the game, André Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liverpool EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aparaju the free kick. In the 85th minute, André Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anselmo Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
