Bacaina's Gerson Cardozo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Bacaina from getting a goal against them. In the 27th minute, Délio Valladares made a precise shot to the right of Sebastião de Mendonça. Sassego's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Francisco Meirelles got free with Gerson Cardozo in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Francisco Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerson Cardozo having to interfere. Dráuzio de Toledo charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dráuzio de Toledo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Sassego got a freekick which was hit by Dráuzio de Toledo. In the 48th minute Délio Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastião de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Sebastião de Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Délio Valladares in the 52nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Délio Valladares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sebastião de Mendonça. That made the score 1-2 in the 54 minute of play. Sassego's Alberto Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alberto Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Gerson Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When João Francisco Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Sassego fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Francisco Meirelles couldn't finish the play. Bacaina's Gerson Cardozo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Fontes in the 88th minute of play. Gerson Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Francisco Meirelles in the 89th minute of the match. The Bacaina players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
