Laércio Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrézinho Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. A collision led to Sealand getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Andrézinho Camargo hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Pedro das Neves in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laércio Cardozo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. José Pedro das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Laércio Cardozo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdemar de Lima in the 25th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Valdemar de Lima had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laércio Cardozo. Sealand's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdemar de Lima was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The supporters of Sealand booed when Rio Grande Futebol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute Rio Grande Futebol were awarded a corner. Olívio Souza went to the cornerflag to take it. Rio Grande Futebol's Olívio Souza was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Laércio Cardozo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 42 minutes into the match, Rio Grande Futebol's goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho Camargo came free, but Belmiro Tande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Angelo Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valdemar de Lima to make the kick off. The supporters of Rio Grande Futebol booed when Sealand was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrézinho Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute, José Pedro das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sealand's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Olívio Souza was slow to take the kick. During this time Rio Grande Futebol's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Rio Grande Futebol's corner Olívio Souza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Laércio Cardozo quite easily take care of the ball. Belmiro Tande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelo Capixaba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Angelo Capixaba struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Belmiro Tande didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sealand. Rio Grande Futebol's José Pedro das Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Valdemar Tinoco received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Laércio Cardozo came out and tried to block the shot, but Valdemar Tinoco slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 84th minute. Maurinho Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Rio Grande Futebol's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
