In the 4th minute, Mário Vianna made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Augusto Bezerra. Espinhaco FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Pedro Augusto Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Mário Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute of the match Ademir Prata shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Augusto Bezerra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Walmyr de Godoy hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. If Mário Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the game, Edvaldo Linares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Espinhaco FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sume the free kick. After 23 played minutes Espinhaco FC got a freekick which was hit by Edvaldo Linares. After recieving a nice pass, Sume's Ademir Prata tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Severino Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Augusto Bezerra having to interfere. After having played for 31 minutes, Thiago Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espinhaco FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thiago Rodrigues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Mário Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Mário Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sume's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Vianna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Severino Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Augusto Bezerra having to interfere. Sume's Mário Vianna got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Valdir Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 53rd minute of the match José Paulo Pena shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cafu Meira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Espinhaco FC's Pedro Augusto Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Rezende in the 54th minute of play. Valdir Veiga charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valdir Veiga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 68 minutes into the match, Espinhaco FC's José Paulo Pena broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Cafu Meira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thiago Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Espinhaco FC booed when Sume was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Mário Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Severino Rezende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Walmyr de Godoy hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Mário Vianna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Pedro Augusto Bezerra made a huge save. Severino Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Augusto Bezerra having to interfere. If Thiago Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sume's Cafu Meira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando Costa in the 93rd minute of play. After 97 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sume! The referee gave Espinhaco FC a penalty, 99 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by José Paulo Pena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Sume's Cafu Meira. 1-1. The Sume players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Espinhaco FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
