After some careless play in the Urucanga SS defense, Jaime Senna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernardinho Gonçalves. The Urucanga SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernardinho Gonçalves should have stopped the shot. Mauricea SC's Jaime Senna got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Márcio Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Valdir de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Douglas Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardinho Gonçalves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandro Massa in the 24th minute of the match. Bernardinho Gonçalves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jaime Senna went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Sandro Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36thth minute of the game Fernando Alcântara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mauricea SC's Douglas Bertassi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 39 played minutes Urucanga SS got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Castro. 45 minutes into the game, Valdir de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Urucanga SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mauricea SC the free kick. A collision led to Urucanga SS getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Valdir de Lara hit a great ball. Jaime Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Bernardinho Gonçalves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sandro Massa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Mauricea SC's Robinho Cabral ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Bernardinho Gonçalves. Bernardinho Gonçalves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Urucanga SS's Fernando Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Dinei Favoretto fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mauricea SC's protests and gave Dinei Favoretto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 67th minute, Valdir de Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mauricea SC's zone, Valdir de Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Douglas Bertassi came out of the goal and Valdir de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Douglas Bertassi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robinho Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Jaime Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardinho Gonçalves having to interfere. A collision led to Urucanga SS getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Edson Brito hit a great ball. 85 minutes into the game, Emílio Paes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Urucanga SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mauricea SC the free kick. The supporters of Mauricea SC booed when Urucanga SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emílio Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Senna struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Bernardinho Gonçalves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mauricea SC. If Sandro Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdir de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Douglas Bertassi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Mauricea SC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
