The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Rafinha Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bemtevi FC's Dagoberto Sarmento got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Cotias's zone, Rafinha Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donato Gaúcho came out of the goal and Rafinha Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th minute, Dagoberto Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diamantino Romero in the 18th minute of play forced Bemtevi FC's goalkeeper Carlos Alberto Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Dagoberto Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bemtevi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dagoberto Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafinha Gonçalves in the 27th minute of play forced Cotias's goalkeeper Donato Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Cotias's goal looked a bit too open when Rafinha Gonçalves came free, but Donato Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dagoberto Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cafu Seco made a kick off. João Paulo Motta's late challenge caught a Cotias's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Paulo Motta helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cotias booed when Bemtevi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Paulo Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cafu Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Soares having to interfere. The Cotias fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when Cotias's Cafu Seco looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafinha Gonçalves in the 69th minute of play forced Cotias's goalkeeper Donato Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cafu Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Soares having to interfere. Donato Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagoberto Sarmento in the 82nd minute of the match. 82 minutes into the game, Cláudio de Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cotias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bemtevi FC the free kick. After 82 played minutes Cotias got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio de Queirós. If Rafinha Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Alberto Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu Seco in the 90th minute of the match. Cafu Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Soares having to interfere. The Bemtevi FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cotias's performance. The match ended with a win for Cotias.
