In the 2nd minute, Frederico Paulista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Murityba booed when Pranchao AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agenor de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. 17 minutes into the game, Tarcisio Tepedino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ivo Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 21st minute, Frederico Paulista made a precise shot to the right of Ivo Brito. Murityba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 26 minutes into the game, Olívio Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Murityba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pranchao AD the free kick. Almir Carioca placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Afonso Seco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Quintal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. After some careless play in the Murityba defense, Frederico Paulista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivo Brito. The Murityba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivo Brito should have stopped the shot. When Frederico Paulista came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Pranchao AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frederico Paulista couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Afonso Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Murityba's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Quintal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frederico Paulista made a kick off. Humberto Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Meireles, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Pranchao AD's zone, Afonso Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Quintal came out of the goal and Afonso Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tarcisio Tepedino who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Ivo Brito when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 73 minutes into the match, Pranchao AD's Frederico Paulista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivo Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ivo Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Paulista in the 76th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frederico Paulista in the 78th minute of play forced Murityba's goalkeeper Ivo Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frederico Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Brito having to interfere. 86 minutes into the match, Murityba's goal looked a bit too open when Frederico Paulista came free, but Ivo Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tarcisio Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute, Afonso Seco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Seco in the 96th minute of play forced Pranchao AD's goalkeeper Humberto Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Murityba supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Pranchao AD's performance. The match ended with a win for Pranchao AD.
