In the 12th minute of the match Itapinimba got a corner. Sofre's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Oscar Leme ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Dionísio Prata heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Nilmar Passos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Paes having to interfere. Nilmar Passos didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-0 via right post in the game's 23rd minute. Sofre's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience was convinced that Válter Alcântara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osmar Paes was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 89th minute, Nilmar Passos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Leonardo Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Válter Alcântara in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Osmar Paes saved Itapinimba from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilmar Passos in the 95th minute of play forced Itapinimba's goalkeeper Osmar Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Itapinimba players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sofre.
