An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiliam Lira in the 4th minute of play forced Ajapi's goalkeeper Augusto Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute Guilherme Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fábio Coutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wiliam Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Augusto Vergílio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wágner Salgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wiliam Lira in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Augusto Vergílio saved Ajapi from getting behind. Wágner Salgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Augusto Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Wiliam Lira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Wágner Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Wiliam Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Xerebebeu F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Wiliam Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Vergílio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Jacinto Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Jacinto Chaves came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Xerebebeu F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacinto Chaves couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Xerebebeu F.C booed when Ajapi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Leal's late challenge caught a Ajapi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cristian Leal helped the player get up and apologised. After 55 played minutes Xerebebeu F.C got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Leal. In the 58th minute, Wiliam Lira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, Xerebebeu F.C's Wiliam Lira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Augusto Vergílio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Ajapi defense, Wiliam Lira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Augusto Vergílio. The Ajapi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Augusto Vergílio should have stopped the shot. After 67 minutes, Elói Sarmento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ajapi and the Xerebebeu F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Cristian Leal came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Xerebebeu F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Leal couldn't finish the play.
