José Maria Lopes might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raúl Santos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Maria Lopes ran back to his position shaking his head. Ricardinho do Nascimento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Chicão de Alcântara made a huge save. Tupiniquins AD's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sérgio Cunha in the 9th minute. Dida Guerra thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Chicão de Alcântara, a very annoying self made goal in the 9th minute which led to 1-0. José Maria Lopes charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Maria Lopes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lauro Guedes struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Raúl Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Papanduva. Raúl Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lauro Guedes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 29 minutes, José Maria Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Papanduva's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Maria Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anderson Motta in the 31st minute of play forced Papanduva's goalkeeper Chicão de Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When José Maria Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Papanduva fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Maria Lopes couldn't finish the play. 38 minutes into the match, Tupiniquins AD's goal looked a bit too open when Lauro Guedes came free, but Raúl Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chicão de Alcântara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anderson Motta in the 40th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marco Ribeiro during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Papanduva getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Marco Ribeiro hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Papanduva's zone, Guga Capixaba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chicão de Alcântara came out of the goal and Guga Capixaba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Maria Lopes made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Hortêncio de Brito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Papanduva's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tupiniquins AD the free kick. Hortêncio de Brito hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute, one of Papanduva:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Papanduva. In the 59th minute there was a penalty for Tupiniquins AD. Sérgio Cunha stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Chicão de Alcântara. 3-0. After 66 minutes, Anderson Motta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tupiniquins AD and the Papanduva players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Tupiniquins AD getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Anderson Motta hit a great ball. 67 minutes into the match, Tupiniquins AD's goalkeeper Raúl Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lauro Guedes. Jorginho de Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Lauro Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raúl Santos having to interfere. Guga Capixaba struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Chicão de Alcântara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tupiniquins AD. 75 minutes into the match, Papanduva's Albertinho Vargas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Raúl Santos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Guga Capixaba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Chicão de Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th match minute, Tupiniquins AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luan Nogueira to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Lauro Guedes took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Raúl Santos to make any attempt to save it. Lauro Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raúl Santos having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Anderson Motta notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Papanduva's Chicão de Alcântara. Chicão de Alcântara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Guga Capixaba kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. If Marco Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Tupiniquins AD players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
