The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Imbiricu FC's Albertinho Santos got a free kick in the 6th minute. Claudinei Xavier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hélio Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Murilo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélio Massa in the 25th minute of play forced Camanducaia's goalkeeper Murilo Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hélio Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murilo Marinho having to interfere. Duarte Soares hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Murilo Marinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hélio Massa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Camanducaia getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. João Carlos de Moraes hit a great ball. If Hélio Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Duarte Soares made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Emerson Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murilo Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Camanducaia's goalkeeper Murilo Marinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hélio Massa. A hard shot 56 in the game by Hélio Massa from a close distance when the talented Murilo Marinho managed to make a qualified save. Camanducaia's players were relieved. The audience was convinced that Emerson Mendonça's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Murilo Marinho was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Emerson Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Imbiricu FC booed when Camanducaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betão Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 77 minutes, Hélio Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Imbiricu FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélio Massa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hélio Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Murilo Marinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emerson Mendonça in the 85th minute of the match. Murilo Marinho made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Hélio Massa sent off a good shot on target. Duarte Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Orlando Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Imbiricu FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
