Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Renato da Silva started the match with the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 7th minute by Natanael Alves got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Renato da Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Paulo Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabiano Camargo charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabiano Camargo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Fabiano Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Atenas's Alfredo Cordeiro broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Gernando Azevedos short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Marco Bezerra to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 33rd minute, one of Maranhão Atlético Clube:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Maranhão Atlético Clube. Alfredo Cordeiro walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Gernando Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Marco Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Marco Bezerra managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Atenas's Gernando Azevedo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 47th minute, Atenas's Natanael Alves dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Natanael Alves to make the kick off. Gernando Azevedo struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Marco Bezerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atenas. In the 59th minute Edmundo Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Bezerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Vides made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Paulo Mendes sent off a good shot on target. Gernando Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Marco Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Vides having to interfere. Gernando Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 70th play minutes Natanael Alves shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Marco Bezerra and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 83rdth minute of the game Natanael Alves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maranhão Atlético Clube's Marco Bezerra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fabiano Camargo was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Maranhão Atlético Clube's Fabiano Camargo got a free kick in the 84th minute. Atenas's Gernando Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Fabinho de Barros fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maranhão Atlético Clube's protests and gave Fabinho de Barros a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th minute, Fabinho de Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Natanael Alves in the 94th minute of play forced Maranhão Atlético Clube's goalkeeper Marco Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gernando Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 100th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that Atenas were the better team. Atenas's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
