After a defensive mix-up in Tupaciguara's zone, Luiz Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Vítor Cruz came out of the goal and Luiz Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Tupaciguara's Marcelinho Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Téo Quirino narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Sporting Defensor América's goalkeeper Téo Quirino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcelinho Costa. José Vítor Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Lara in the 23rd minute of play. Marcelinho Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcelinho Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Téo Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Sporting Defensor América's Téo Quirino got control of the ball when Marcelinho Costa tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Jorginho Cerezo managed to get in a good position for a shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Luiz Lara made the kick off in the second half. Jorginho Cerezo struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Téo Quirino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tupaciguara. 56 minutes into the match, Sporting Defensor América's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelinho Costa came free, but Téo Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tupaciguara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Luiz Lara scored to the left of an out of position José Vítor Cruz, making the score, 2-1. Téo Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelinho Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Téo Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorginho Cerezo in the 62nd minute of play. Marco Vidal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but José Vítor Cruz made a huge save. Luiz Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
