Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Gilvan Vides started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Laércio Rossi during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 3 played minutes Maceio got a freekick which was hit by Laércio Rossi. In the 6th minute Dinei Souto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes, Eduardo Félix mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gurijuba and the Maceio players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 7 played minutes Gurijuba got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Félix. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tarcisio Simões during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Gurijuba booed when Maceio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcisio Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. Deivid Pirani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilmar Lopes having to interfere. Maceio's Gilvan Vides managed to work through Gurijuba's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Gilvan Vides dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gurijuba fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! A collision led to Gurijuba getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Abel Lira hit a great ball. In the 24th minute of the match Eliézer Cunha shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Frank de Amaral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dinei Souto in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frank de Amaral saved Gurijuba from getting behind. Laércio Rossi was shown his second yellow card after 36 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Maceio getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Laércio Rossi hit a great ball. In the 38th minute Rafa Diniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilmar Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Digo do Valle in the 40th minute of the match. Dinei Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute, Wilson Faustino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eliézer Cunha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Digo do Valle was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Dinei Souto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maceio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dinei Souto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Vítor da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank de Amaral having to interfere. Gilvan Vides struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Frank de Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maceio. Dinei Souto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank de Amaral having to interfere. The Gurijuba fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Gurijuba's Deivid Pirani looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gilvan Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frank de Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dinei Souto in the 86th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
