After a rather tough play, Borussia Dortmund 1909's Wágner Seco got a free kick in the 14th minute. When Zé Roberto Figueiredo came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Los Angeles Galaxy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Roberto Figueiredo couldn't finish the play. Nuno Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arí de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Figueiredo in the 20th minute of play. If Zé Roberto Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arí de Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Roberto Figueiredo's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mauro Zanette to make the kick off. Los Angeles Galaxy's Luizão Sabóia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Los Angeles Galaxy from getting a goal against them. Borussia Dortmund 1909's Mauro Zanette got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zé Roberto Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Borussia Dortmund 1909's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
