Carandai SC's Eliseu Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Zanette in the 21st minute of play. Arí de Queirós made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Emerson Lopez sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olavo dos Santos in the 29th minute of play forced Carandai SC's goalkeeper Eliseu Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Carandai SC defense, Mauro Zanette kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eliseu Castro. The Carandai SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eliseu Castro should have stopped the shot. Eliseu Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Zanette, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Carandai SC's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Zanette came free, but Eliseu Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseu Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olavo dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half Borussia Dortmund 1909 were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Thanks to some nice moves Olavo dos Santos could shoot a difficult shot in the 68th minute, which Eliseu Castro however easily saved by the left post. After a rather tough play, Carandai SC's Emerson Lopez got a free kick in the 74th minute. Wágner Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Carandai SC's Eliseu Castro got control of the ball when Olavo dos Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Borussia Dortmund 1909 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Borussia Dortmund 1909 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
