Enio Fantini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Wilton Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amílton Pontes's late challenge caught a Palmeiras AC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 14 played minutes Palmeiras AC got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Cunha. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Rogério Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itas's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogério Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulinho Vinhas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20th minute Adalberto Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilton Cerezo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adalberto Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilton Cerezo having to interfere. Palmeiras AC's Paulinho Vinhas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Quadros in the 24th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomás Quadros in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulinho Vinhas saved Palmeiras AC from getting behind. Enio Tasso hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The long shot by Gilson Duarte in the 31st minute really tested Paulinho Vinhas's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enio Fantini was the one to do the kick off.
