In the 7th minute, Thomás Luz made a precise shot to the right of William Mattos. Grêmio São Carlense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After having played for 12 minutes, Enio Brodel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio São Carlense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enio Brodel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robinho Peixoto in the 14th minute of play forced Joatuba SC's goalkeeper Edu Proença to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edu Proença tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grêmio São Carlense's William Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Pontes in the 33rd minute of play. Robinho Peixoto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Edu Proença when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

William Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kiko Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the game, Enio Brodel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Edu Proença was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Enio Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. William Mattos made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Edmundo Pontes sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Valle during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Daniel Valle hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Edu Proença stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robinho Peixoto's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. The supporters of Joatuba SC booed when Grêmio São Carlense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mustafa Emrah Ongay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enio Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edu Proença having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grêmio São Carlense fully deserved thier win.
