Dé Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Vivaldo Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute Evaristo Siqueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caio Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sombreiro E.C's Alfredão Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Cafu Sena made a precise shot to the right of Caio Falcão. Sombreiro E.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Waldemar Furtado hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Dé Rossi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Vivaldo Guerra made a huge save. If Fabinho Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredão Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Guerra having to interfere. Caio Falcão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio Ortiz in the 49th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. In the 70th minute, Alfredão Sousa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vivaldo Guerra was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Evaristo Siqueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Caio Falcão made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 78th minute by Cacá Terra got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antônio Carneiro during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio Ortiz in the 83rd minute of play forced Sombreiro E.C's goalkeeper Caio Falcão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Evaristo Siqueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caio Falcão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Evaristo Siqueira ran back to his position shaking his head. If Aloísio Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu Sena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Sombreiro E.C getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Fabinho Lira hit a great ball.
