Piraputanga AD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Grêmio F.R.G's Jano Damião got a free kick in the 10th minute. Diogo Bastos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaltino Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute of the match Piraputanga AD got a corner. Grêmio F.R.G's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cesinha Urbano ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Grêmio F.R.G's Alfredo Valladares got a free kick in the 15th minute. After 17 played minutes Grêmio F.R.G got a freekick which was hit by Giovanni Azevedo. Piraputanga AD's Baltazar Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jano Damião in the 19th minute of play. After some careless play in the Piraputanga AD defense, Jano Damião kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Baltazar Gaspar. The Piraputanga AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Baltazar Gaspar should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Elói Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Baltazar Gaspar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elói Tavares ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Jano Damião sped through Piraputanga AD's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Baltazar Gaspar. José Paulo Paraense kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jano Damião in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baltazar Gaspar saved Piraputanga AD from getting behind. Jano Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Gaspar having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Piraputanga AD's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Elói Tavares fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Piraputanga AD's Norberto Valadares got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute of the match Alfredo Valladares shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baltazar Gaspar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 78th minute by Elói Tavares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Baltazar Gaspar made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Elói Tavares sent off a good shot on target. Baltazar Gaspar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jano Damião in the 85th minute of the match. Cesinha Urbano hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 90th play minute Elói Tavares came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Baltazar Gaspar. 0-4. If Elói Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Grêmio F.R.G played a much better game than Piraputanga AD and deserved their victory. The Piraputanga AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
