Giovani Magalhães, 13 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Ronaldo Carneiro charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ronaldo Carneiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th match minute, Freicheiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Betinho Paulista got free with Reynaldo do Valle in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Freicheiras's Reynaldo do Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Carioca in the 21st minute of play. Reynaldo do Valle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bernardo Carioca's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. If Betinho Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betinho Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Reynaldo do Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th match minute, Freicheiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Donatello to maneuver through the defense. Betinho Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reynaldo do Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Carioca in the 38th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Washington Sergipano made a kick off. When Washington Sergipano fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Freicheiras's protests and gave Washington Sergipano a yellow card for diving instead. Washington Sergipano hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Washington Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Hílton Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Jabuti getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Luiz Fernando Barros hit a great ball. Lúcio Hames kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. When Jabuti's Betinho Paulista in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Freicheiras's goalie prevented a goal. Bernardo Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jabuti's Bernardo Carioca in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Hílton Moraes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Freicheiras. In the 91st minute, Betinho Paulista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reynaldo do Valle was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0.
