The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Slawomir Nakoneczny in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elano Fernandes saved Guayanazes SS from getting behind. 6 minutes into the match, Giuseppe Kronenberg notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Tocantins's Fidel Florian. Fidel Florian was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Guayanazes SS booed when Tocantins was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Nogueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 1-1 became the score in the 13th minute when Slawomir Nakoneczny elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Evandro de Andrade fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tocantins's protests and gave Evandro de Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. Evandro de Andrade hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Tocantins's Fidel Florian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raphael Ortiz in the 19th minute of play. Elano Fernandes was out of position in the 21 minute of play, and Pedrinho Batista capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Pedrinho Batista really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. In the 25th minute Slawomir Nakoneczny shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elano Fernandes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tocantins's zone, Raphael Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fidel Florian came out of the goal and Raphael Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elano Fernandes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Slawomir Nakoneczny's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. The supporters of Tocantins booed when Guayanazes SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Kronenberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Eduardo Paraibano took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fidel Florian. Fidel Florian dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Elano Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Slawomir Nakoneczny, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Elano Fernandes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 48th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Digo Mota. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
