The Regeneracao SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelson Baptista should have stopped the shot. Chico Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Américo Vides's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelson Baptista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Leonel Nascimento showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilvan Jacinto in the 17th minute of the match. If Américo Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute of the match, Gil Mandrak got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nelson Baptista was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Américo Vides's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 24thth minute, Nelson Baptista skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Taquarinhas's Américo Vides slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nelson Baptista. That made the score 2-0 after 26 minutes of play. Nelson Baptista made an important save on a dangerous shot by Américo Vides in the 30th minute. 33 minutes into the match, Samuca Meira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leonel Nascimento. Taquarinhas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Samuca Meira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 42 minutes into the game, Taquarinhas's Américo Vides nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nelson Baptista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. In the 48th minute, Américo Vides ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nelson Baptista was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Samuca Meira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Regeneracao SS's zone, César Teixeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Baptista came out of the goal and César Teixeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Américo Vides in the 57th minute of play forced Regeneracao SS's goalkeeper Nelson Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Regeneracao SS's goal looked a bit too open when Américo Vides came free, but Nelson Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelson Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Américo Vides, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75thth minute of the game Américo Vides who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Regeneracao SS's Nelson Baptista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Taquarinhas's Américo Vides sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nelson Baptista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 81 minutes, Américo Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taquarinhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Américo Vides was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manolo Torres during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Egídio Couto, 83 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal.
