Gramado's Adrianinho Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Telmo Viana in the 3rd minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Gramado's José Maria Barreto broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 14th minute José Paulo Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romário Lopez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Paulo Vianna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zeca Paranaense's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Romário Dante skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 28th minute José Paulo Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Macedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Gramado's zone, Telmo Viana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrianinho Macedo came out of the goal and Telmo Viana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Telmo Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Paulo Vianna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Narciso Goiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Gramado getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Antônio da Silveira hit a great ball. José Paulo Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Macedo having to interfere. Adrianinho Macedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telmo Viana in the 44th minute of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gramado's goalkeeper Adrianinho Macedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gramado's Adrianinho Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Netto in the 48th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romário Lopez to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Agenor Mendonça shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Romário Dante showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Zeca Paranaense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Romário Dante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Gramado's goalkeeper Adrianinho Macedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Paulo Vianna. A collision led to Gramado getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Luiz Fabiano Simões hit a great ball. 68 minutes into the match, Gramado's goal looked a bit too open when Telmo Viana came free, but Adrianinho Macedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Telmo Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Macedo having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Zeca Paranaense ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Romário Dante was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Telmo Viana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 92 minutes in the game, Claudinei Netto fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Adrianinho Macedo having to interfere. Telmo Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Macedo having to interfere. When José Paulo Vianna came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Almesquinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Paulo Vianna couldn't finish the play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
