In the 9th minute of the match Marquinhos Alagoano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chicão Mazza showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Sérgio Freitas notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Valdelandia EC's Chicão Mazza. Chicão Mazza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Claudinei dos Santos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernani de Souza was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 16th match minute, Glucinio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Sérgio Freitas's late challenge caught a Valdelandia EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Glucinio's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardinho Fernandes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valdelandia EC's Chicão Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Freitas in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Sérgio Freitas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Glucinio fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The supporters of Glucinio booed when Valdelandia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gugu Faustino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 36 minutes of play, Glucinio's Bernardinho Fernandes made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chicão Mazza was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardinho Fernandes in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chicão Mazza saved Valdelandia EC from getting behind. When Doni Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Valdelandia EC's protests and gave Doni Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Valdelandia EC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Doni Vasconcelos hit a great ball. If Sérgio Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sérgio Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Mazza having to interfere. Chicão Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Freitas, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudinei dos Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Cássio Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glucinio's supporters rose to their feet, but Cássio Ramos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cássio Ramos during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 53 played minutes Glucinio got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Ramos. A collision led to Valdelandia EC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Doni Vasconcelos hit a great ball. Chicão Mazza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sérgio Freitas went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Glucinio's Sérgio Freitas suffered a sore thigh after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Valdelandia EC's goalkeeper Chicão Mazza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pedro Luiz Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Hernani de Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If César Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 88 minutes, César Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valdelandia EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but César Toscano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Claudinei dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Bernardinho Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Eduardo Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match was over Glucinio could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Valdelandia EC throughout the match.
