Luizão Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tales Mota having to interfere. Corinthians Paulista were furious when Dida Lago was red carded, 21 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 21 minutes into the game, one of Corinthians Paulista:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 28th minute, Dedê Gaúcho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tales Mota was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 36 minutes into the match, Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Dedê Gaúcho came free, but Tales Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
