Pontes AFC's João Paulo Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvaldo Matos in the 34th minute of play. Edvaldo Matos might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Paulo Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edvaldo Matos ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Eduardo Saldanha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wesley Amorim having to make a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Eduardo Saldanha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Pontes AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Eurico Koehler came free, but João Paulo Cordeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Luís Eduardo Saldanha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pontes AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Eduardo Saldanha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Samuca Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wesley Amorim having to interfere. Pontes AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edvaldo Matos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Bernardinho Maranhense kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Jacinto de Godoi struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. João Paulo Cordeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cunhanji. Edvaldo Matos might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Paulo Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edvaldo Matos ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Luís Eduardo Saldanha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wesley Amorim was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. In the 94th minute, Eurico Koehler left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cunhanji fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Pontes AFC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Cunhanji had won, even though Pontes AFC had held more of the ball.
