Paratuba's Ernesto de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliézer Moura in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliézer Moura in the 6th minute of play forced Paratuba's goalkeeper Ernesto de Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the game, Luiz Fernando Guedes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paratuba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Campeste the free kick. In the 9th minute, Luiz Fernando Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Paratuba booed when Campeste was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oscar Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Ernesto de Carvalho managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Campeste's Tadeu Alves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ernesto de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliézer Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Hélder Mesquita scored 0-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juarês Pitta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tadeu Alves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Ernesto de Carvalho made a huge save. Juarês Pitta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cido dos Santos's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Ernesto de Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliézer Moura in the 32nd minute of the match. After 33 played minutes Paratuba got a freekick which was hit by Natã Guedes. In the 34th minute, Tadeu Alves made a precise shot to the right of Ernesto de Carvalho. Paratuba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 37 minutes into the game, Frédson Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Campeste's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paratuba the free kick. 38 minutes into the match, Paratuba's Cido dos Santos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juarês Pitta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Hélder Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eliézer Moura made a kick off. In the 55th minute of the match Oscar Arantes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ernesto de Carvalho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Hélder Mesquita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Juarês Pitta, 1-2. 69 minutes into the game, Paratuba's Cido dos Santos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juarês Pitta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Ernesto de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu Alves in the 77th minute of play. If Hélder Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hélder Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tadeu Alves in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernesto de Carvalho saved Paratuba from getting behind. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Paratuba eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
